Hello Ringo
Thank you for your inquiry. Regarding the MB662U3-2S R1 and using it on routers and NAS devices, there are some factors to consider before using.
-Are you planning to use the MB662U3-2S R1 under JBOD, where you see each drive separately or link both drives in the unit under a RAID array? If you plan to the drives separately (not in a RAID array), the NAS or router USB port needs to support port multiplication, as both drives are using the same USB connection. Without port multiplication, the USB port on the NAS or router would not be able to see more than 1 drive in the USB connection.
-Do you plan to swap out drives while the NAS or router in use? If so, you would need to check if the device refreshes its USB connections and can recognize changed drives in the connections.
-Check if there is any restrictions on capacity when connecting via USB. If there is, that may restrict what drives can be used, even if the MB662U3-2S R1 supports the drive.
