DVD and Blu-Ray recorders have one DVD tray slot. When their burners expire they can no longer be used. I'd like to find an Icy Dock product that lets me swap out the standard 5.25 DVD burner for a tool less SSD or 2.5 inch SATA laptop drive.
I have tried the Icy Dock Slim Optical with a touch armour bracket, but universally in all of these recorders the drive slot is too high. Most recorders "frame" the drive tray slot close to the exact center (Top to Bottom) of the 5.25 frame. the recorders have a flip down door that is removable or easy to open by touch.
The two bay 2.5 tool less SSD/HDD Icy Dock product comes closest, but the middle slot is a little too extreme to fit many recorders, it bumps the bottom edge, even when turn upside down.. and turning it upside down is not optimal.
I lack artistic skills to provide a diagram, but I could provide some (mm) measurements.
I would think that beyond a DVD recorder. Having a "dead center" tray replacement dock would have broad appeal since there are many circumstances where unusual bezel arrangements in a PC or Industrial setting would be attractive.
