Where did you hear this information: I heard that Intel is the reason why no one has come up with a Thunderbolt 3 adapter, enclosure, or dock (i.e. without the SSD). They do not permit the licensing or use (I'm not exactly sure which) of the Thunderbolt 3 interface without it being a "complete" product, i.e. with the SSD. Until that changes, we are unlikely to see such products in the market any time soon.

I thought Intel is releasing ThunderBolt III later this year and does not require loyalty fee....either could be true? Shrug.
