Well, the drives I am using so far are two,
- WD30EFRX (Western Digital, 3TB, 5.400 RPM) [Position 2 from the Bottom]
- ST4000VN008 (Seagate, 4TB, 5.900 RPM) [Position 1 from the Bottom]
The drive does not seem to disconnect randomly as far as I see in the log file.
I changed today drive positions, and I installed the Seagate in the top position and WD in the Bottom position. For the WD I get
kernel: ata5: SATA link up 6.0 Gbps (SStatus 133 SControl 300)
kernel: ata5.00: exception Emask 0x10 SAct 0x800 SErr 0x400100 action 0x6 frozen
kernel: ata5.00: irq_stat 0x08000000, interface fatal error
kernel: ata5: SATA link up 3.0 Gbps (SStatus 123 SControl 320)
The Seagate faces a similar thing.
kernel: ata3.00: exception Emask 0x52 SAct 0xe000 SErr 0x400c01 action 0x6 frozen
kernel: ata3.00: irq_stat 0x08000000, interface fatal error
After searching, I found out that it MIGHT be the SATA cables. I have 2 brand new cables which I will test today. Hopefully the errors will go away.
P.S.
!!! The Seagate is brand new, out of the box. I am just populating the Black Vortex and I am testing it at the same time.
!!! I have 2 identical Seagate's directly attached to a LSI controller that produces no error whatsoever.
